# Exploring New Income Opportunities: Monetizing Your Expertise

Chapter 1: Understanding the Market
Are there viable options for offering freelance writing coaching and courses?
Will I end up sounding like a fraud?
How many times have you encountered ads online claiming you can earn $1,000 in just two days by enrolling in a course?

I often feel that online courses have turned into a widespread scam. If you share this sentiment, join me in raising your hand. It seems everyone is eager to teach others how to quickly accumulate wealth with minimal effort. When desperation sets in, many will buy these courses, only to realize they’ve been duped.
While I don’t have experience with the classic snake oil scam, I can relate to the quail bird scam. People were convinced to raise quail, believing their meat and eggs could cure various health issues, including cancer. Have you ever fallen for a similar scheme?
My aversion to these courses has prevented me from launching my own freelancing class. Despite being frequently approached by individuals wanting to learn writing, I often respond by saying that teaching writing isn't my strength. Ironically, I have a background in teaching. The truth is, I learned writing through extensive research, video tutorials, and immersing myself in blogs and newsletters. I’ve always had a passion for writing.
When approached by individuals solely focused on financial gain, I tend to react defensively. However, I’m reconsidering my position. Perhaps I could offer writing classes, but I want to take a different route.
Section 1.1: A New Approach to Teaching Writing
My strategy will be unique. If I decide to pursue this, I must focus on efficiency.
I plan to offer one-on-one coaching for writers and conduct Zoom sessions with ten participants at a time. My approach will guide them from the initial stages right up to establishing their own writing businesses.
- Promote my coaching classes through posters.
- Organize candidates into groups.
- Commence the classes.
Subsection 1.1.1: Course Structure
Once a student enrolls, the first task will be to write a 200-300 word piece on a topic of their choice. I will review, edit, and assess their initial writing level.
Next, I’ll have an individual call to discuss their goals for the class and their aspirations in writing for profit. Afterward, I will conduct the first group session on Zoom, providing essential information they need to succeed.
Participants will receive assignments for evaluation. This process will continue for a week, followed by group evaluations in the second week. Based on their strengths and weaknesses, they will pair up with accountability partners within the group.
We will also create a supportive environment to help each other improve. The classes will span two weeks, but the community support will persist for as long as the writers desire.
Here’s a brief infographic outlining the course details:

This initiative will not only serve as an additional income source for me but also assist others in generating online income. It’s a genuine approach, diverging from the typical pre-recorded courses.
Will I eventually record my classes? Yes. However, one-on-one coaching isn't sustainable unless I charge premium prices. For now, with limited slots, I aim to share my extensive knowledge of freelance writing.
Here’s a poster I created on Canva to convey my objectives:

What are your thoughts? Should I embark on this coaching venture? Any feedback or suggestions would be greatly valued.
