# Embracing Life: Two Essential Keys to Your Afterlife
Written on
Chapter 1: Understanding the Afterlife
Having spent almost ten years indulging in every paranormal show and even dabbling in ghost hunting, I've developed my own perspective on what lies beyond. For those who are skeptical, I encourage you to consider my insights. They may be relevant for everyone, as I believe there are two vital lifestyle modifications that could enhance your afterlife experience.
What follows is a reflection on the lessons I've gathered from various ghost-hunting escapades, meant to entertain and inform.
Section 1.1: The Ghostly Wardrobe
One interesting observation from my binge-watching of ghost shows is that an overwhelming number of female spirits are referred to as "The Lady in White." Why is that? Perhaps it's a lack of creativity in naming?
Consider this: many people pass away in the early hours of the morning, whether due to natural causes or otherwise. This suggests that a significant number of individuals may have departed this world in their nightwear. Historically, women often donned white linen for bedtime, as it was easy to maintain. Connecting these dots isn't particularly challenging.
Today, our sleepwear varies widely, with some individuals even sporting extravagant outfits throughout the day. Imagine this scenario: you're in Walmart, wearing a T-shirt with a humorous slogan like “The Grass is Greener Under my Weiner,” and fuzzy pajama pants. Then, a colossal display of Diet Coke collapses on you, ending your life before you can even think twice about your outfit. The thought of haunting Walmart is already grim, but being eternally remembered for your questionable clothing choice is even worse.
So, as you dress each day, remember that your attire might just become your ghostly ensemble.
Section 1.2: Energy and Employment
Do you find yourself dreading work every morning? Is your job so overwhelming that you become a mere shell of yourself by the time you return home? If this resonates with you, consider the saying by Ernest Holmes: “Where the Mind goes, energy flows.”
Ghosts are often perceived as the residual energy left behind after death, which is why they can sometimes be detected using electromagnetic frequency (EMF) devices. This leads to a thought-provoking question: could the energy generated by your mental state influence your journey in the afterlife?
In her memoir Life with the Afterlife, ghost-hunting personality Amy Bruni recounts her experiences at the infamous Waverly Hills Sanatorium in Louisville, Kentucky. While investigating the nurses’ wing with her partner Adam Berry, they used a series of knocks to establish communication with several nurses. These spirits expressed a desire for the investigators to pray for them, but they continued to knock insistently as the team exited, even following them back to their hotel.
If I found myself tethered to my workplace as a ghost, you can bet I'd try to follow someone home as well. (What’s on the dinner menu, by the way?)
When you catch yourself worrying about work, recognize that your energy is heavily invested there. It’s essential to consciously redirect that energy to avoid potential consequences.
Chapter 2: A Lighter Approach to Death
While discussing death can feel uncomfortable, I hope you found my anecdotes entertaining. As Yale professor Shelly Kagan wisely noted, “Death is a serious topic — but we don’t have to discuss it or write about it in ponderous academic prose.”
I urge you to be more mindful of your thoughts and take better care of yourself. While death is inevitable, you can certainly avoid being the worst-dressed apparition at the holiday office gathering.
